as formerly revealed, our summer online book club pick is savor: mindful eating, mindful life. i came across this book in my year of mindfulness program and have been slowly devouring it over the past few weeks in paris. i love thich nhat hanh's writing, struggle with speedy eating, and can't get enough on mindfulness so it felt like a great fit. i think you, too, will "savor" it.
since college i've found myself eating cereal {quickly} for many meals on-the-go, struggling with low blood sugar shakes, and obsessed with all things sugary. over the past decade i've become more mindful about my eating habits . . . but given a baguette and cheese or decadent dessert and this all goes out the window.
also, get me to my favorite restaurant {olive garden, i know, i know} and i'm begging for more bowls of salad and bread sticks plus delivery of dessert with my entree {so i don't have to wait}. sigh.
thus the strong desire to learn to eat more mindfully and less on-the-go. coupled with a deep desire to live more mindfully in general.

I'm in. Ordering the Kindle version right now. I, too, have done a lot of work on my eating habits over the past decade or so. But, definitely still see room for improvement. I'm looking forward to reading this and learning more.
kristen, delighted to have you join! x
sounds like a book i could learn from...considering i eat a lot of meals at my desk or on the go....
I'm embarrassed to say that I've owned this book for a little while now and it has been living a lonely life on my bookshelf! You've inspired me to pick it up and join in the chatter/inspiration from all the other lovely ladies reading along. Thanks!
XO

I'm in. And for those with Kindle's it's under $3 right now.

I just finished this book and really got a lot out of it -- both in terms of my relationship with food and with other aspects of my life.
I have to admit that my attempts at mindful eating are a bit of a work in progress. I'm still guilty of eating in front of the tv or computer far more often than I should, and sometimes it is hard to find time to really savor what I'm eating. That said, I found her techniques for focusing on breathwork when I'm tempted to overeat to be really helpful. I also liked how she connected mindful eating/life with a focus on being grateful for the food that we have, and the many people that have worked to prepare it.
Thanks very much for the recommendation - I really enjoyed this one!

I've started reading it and completely love it. I'm really taking my time though, taking in every piece of wisdom I come across...which is everywhere!
