rosabeth moss kanter (named as one of the 50 most powerful women in the world - WOW!) at gwu and she emphasized the importance of leaving a legacy. we got a copy of her latest book super corp. love me some books! her lecture was a good reminder on building one's life in a way that is value-centric and has society/others at the center of its mission (ideally).
i received an e-mail from a hip tranquil chick retreat veteran and it warmed my heart. i wanted to share it with you as it captures the essence of why i do what i do:
"I just wanted to tell you that I love listening to the Tranquility du Jour podcast. This morning I tuned in on my commute and you totally gave my mood a makeover. I've gone as far as I want to go at X and I am sooooo ready for a change. Every morning, I drag myself out of bed and on to the train. I do yoga at lunch to make it thought the day. When I get home I work on my blog, I sew, I edit my photos, I work on my book (yes, I am publishing a little fashion zine/book with some friends). This morning I was so grumpy and I noticed the new episode on my iPod (thank goodness). Listening to the stories of the women on Tranquility du Jour inspires me because they all took a risk, many of them kicked their 9-5 paycheck, and pursued their passion. I know this is all apart of the narrative...I want to be someplace else but for now I'll suck it up until something magical happens. Thanks for the inspiration and keep doing what you do [PLEASE]."
in addition, i received another GORGEOUS flower from cici. j'adore seeing my musings on the upcoming season brought to life in such vibrant, creative colors and styles.
your feedback feeds my soul, pushes me to do more/be more, and inspires me to keep growing. i thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your stories, insights, and dreams with moi. may we continue to support each other on this sparkling journey called life. xo
