bonjour from boulder!

boulder is gorgeous this time of the year. so different than the blizzard and insane wind we encountered in january. it feels good to be back in our cozy b & b and to be focusing on professional and personal development for the week. tonight we (BFF and i) got in a yummy yoga class and dined on a tasty strawberry and pear salad. i'm feeling refreshed and ready for the 10 hours of learning ahead over the next few days.

today's return to our work together and contemplation practice began with a reminder that no matter how many times we fall off the horse, we just have to get back on. our teacher was referring to our meditation practice and practice of the tools we're learning in the authentic leadership program. i liked that reminder. although i constantly fall short from being the perfect soul i want to be, i shouldn't wallow in guilt or self-pity - just simply need to dust myself off and return to the meditation cushion/horse! resonate?

Kimberly, you captured something that really resonates with me--the notion of falling off the horse and getting back up again. Thank you! Over time, I've realized that in working to achieve all my goals, I needed to shift away from rigidity and perfect--as women we can be so hard on ourselves! Once I started to see that the real challenge lies (and joy) lies in allowing yourself to try things and "fail," I began to see that it's a natural, much-needed part of the process. I have found it in my own yoga and exercise practice over the years, my schooling (graduating this spring with my doctorate, which I've had to work at part time while working full-time--a 6-year journey that really helped me learn this lesson--to be patient with myself and to immerse myself in the journey), my work and so many other things. It helps me to stay curious and open.

Thank you for your wonderful book, inspiring blog and podcasts and your terrific attitude toward life! I had hoped to attend your March weekend workshop but was unable to do so. I'm hoping to attend one of your upcoming workshops/conferences. Your work and your attitude bring me great joy--your help me give myself permission to be creative and to take the time to think about pleasure--a hard task for us goal-focused gals. We can get tunnel vision. It reminds me of the book, Eat, Pray, Love, where the author takes time in Italy to dive into pleasure.

Best wishes in Boulder! I'm so glad to see that you're writing your blog while you're there.
