holiday humdrum

i've heard from multiple people that they are going through a hard time right now. does this resonate? the weather and the dark days, coupled with all the holiday hustle can contribute to these yucky feelings. when i don't feel quite right, i can pinpoint it in my body. it's always a queasy belly and i say to my beau, "i feel oogy." and then i'm left to explore what caused this "ooginess." (is that even a word?) if you, too, are among the many who are feeling a bit oogy right now, be sure to bathe yourself in self-care, self-compassion, and self-reflection.

life is a constant rollercoaster and filled with unexpected shifts. take good care of yourself girls and know that you can't always be a rock star. sometimes you have to stay in bed with the covers pulled overhead and hibernate. then you can reemerge as your rock star self - well-rested! sending you good thoughts.

I chuckled at the idea of "oogies" because I say the exact same thing! My mom and beau think I'm nuts, but I find this odd because since both you and I say it, I think it draws it's roots from Southern/mid-west American English. My mom spent a good deal of her childhood in Kentucky so I probably got it from her.

It's a rough time of year. It's the run up to the holidays so everyone's busy busy busy! Tonight I'm either going to soak in the hot tub or a bath. I had a real bangup of a day and I need something to wash it all away, if only for a little while.

I have no holiday spirit whatsoever but I am trying to keep up appearances as they say. I wonder why and how such a joyous time of year leaves everyone feeling so stressed and "oogy"? Perhaps because we have forgotten the true meaning of this season...

I spent the day in bed with the covers pulled over my head--an extremely rare occurrance in my life! This was just what I needed to read in this moment to remind me of how productive I will be tomorrow.

I kind of expected to feel oogy... but I'm not...mostly because of some unexpected sunshine here in the usually grey midwest. I was able to take a long walk in the sunshine two days in a row. I also had a great yoga class yesterday. So despite horrendous technical problems (total laptop melt-down and more) I'm keeping a sunny disposition.

I also have a fab art seeing trip to NY planned. Leaving from here on Xmas day and staying for a week. Any recommendations for must see in the big apple right now?

I understand about the holidays getting you down. Whenever I get in that mood I just pretend I'm back in college when all you wanted to do during winter break was get lots of sleep, eat good food, go out with friends and watch lots movies. For some reason, thinking about life in this way makes me feel young again. Maybe this could be your holiday treat to yourself?

Hang in there!
