Featured Tranquilista: Samantha Kira Harding. Up until about seven years ago, the extent of Samantha Kira Harding's artistic skills were doodles and stick figures. That all changed when she bought her first Moleskine journal and began drawing the world around her. This consistent practice became her art school, and upon graduating from college, she knew her path in life was now one of color, collage, and creativity.

Now, she is a self-taught, internationally known journal and mixed-media artist working to help others discover their inner artist through classes, videos , and words of inspiration. She has written for several magazines, including Somerset Studio, Cloth Paper Scissors, and Art Journaling, and creates videos for Stampington & Co on art journaling. Her first series of rubber stamps will be coming out this November.

In 1999, she was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia Syndrome, a chronic pain disease, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, the result of an accident that left her with a sprained leg and no desire to visit Medieval Times again. While these syndromes, coupled with a nice list of related health issues, could have gotten her down, Samie Kira instead uses them to fuel her passion for artistic expression. She now works to help others with chronic health issues raise their spirits and channel the pain into beautiful works of art. It has become her catalyst to create, share, and uplift.

She holds a BA in Television Writing & Production from Columbia College Chicago, and has lived in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Phoenix, where she is now enjoying the desert sun. Her passion for producing videos has morphed into a position of creative video production, where she blends her passion for art with her love of directing and editing to create fun & spunky videos.

Samie Kira lives in Phoenix, AZ with her two pups and crazy but lovable family, creates from a closet studio, and consumes way too much diet coke.
