Featured Tranquilista: Poppy King A native of Melbourne, Australia, Poppy fell in love with lipsticks the very first time she played dress-up with her mom, but by the time she was old enough to buy her own she couldn’t find the shades and textures she desired. So, the industrious teen started her lipstick line at 18 with nothing but passion. Her first lipsticks launched in 1992.
Since then, Poppy has become a leader in the cosmetic industry. Beginning with the creation of her first lipstick brand, “Poppy”, she has used her innovative foresight as a business tool. In her later role as Vice-President of Creative Marketing for Estee Lauder’s Prescriptives brand, Poppy combined creativity within the strict business environment of a large corporate makeup company. Eventually Poppy pooled the knowledge she had acquired through the years to author an unconventional business guidebook, “Lessons of a Lipstick Queen,” which is being used in colleges as a textbook for budding entrepreneurs in universities today.

In 2007, Poppy’s lipsticks were awarded, The Breakthrough Product of the Year in Prestige Cosmetics by Womens Wear Daily for her second line of lipsticks, aptly called “Lipstick Queen”.
“Lipstick Queen” is sold in upscale retail outlets worldwide. Poppy King lives and works in New York City
