bon soir from the newark airport. more travel delays means no pug-cuddling tonight (boo!), an early morning return to dc, and e-mail catch up at the airport rather than the comfort of freshly painted chez moi.
on july 4, beau and 2 friends headed to an indie theatre in portland to see food, inc. if you haven't seen it yet, i HIGHLY recommend the film. eye-opening! in the interim, learn 10 simple steps toward more mindful eating including eating at home, support your local farmer's markets, know where your food comes from, buy organic, and more. choose humane eating and meatless mondays.
to help you along the green path, i wanted to share this AMAZINGLY yummy, yummy salad courtesy of diane renzulli via childhood friend mandie desmond:
1 bag spinach
1 pint strawberries (i use a quart)
toasted slivered almonds--lightly browned

Great recipe! We're all about our leafy greens....
I haven't seen the movie, but so going to check it out now. Supporting your local markets is so important. I am fortunate here that we have a local farm that delivers baskets of food on pre-order from their farm or local ones, depending. It rocks! I always feel like Christmas morning on my delivery day, as like Forest Gump, life is like a box of chocolates and you never know what your gonna get. Local, seasonal, organic foods are the bomb! All - see if you have one in your area, you never know.
i adore salads... here is one of my favorites...
Baby spinach
strawberries
blueberries
feta cheese
raspberry dressing
mix it all together and it is yum!
