do tell . . .
sooo, i've been perusing a few fab blogs lately:
hang on little tomato
naturally nina
goddess guidebook
wish studio
cupcakes and cashmere
and, i must confess, . . . am feeling a bit lame. oddly enough, i've been writing since october 2004, but haven't really been a blog reader until recently. i see such *amazing* creativity out there. these blogs are gorgeous and filled with such love! it's like eye candy coupled with creative text. yum!
also, taking this creative non-fiction writing class shows me that i've got to be more focused with my writing, less stream of consciousness. so i ask you, dear reader, what would spice up your read of tranquility du jour?

Merci for the shout-out! i'm proud to have you as a reader of my humble petit blog :-)
As for what i'd like to read, honestly i adore just hearing about your life and specifically how you live your yoga off the mat in your day-to-day. I also love all the fun pics of you, Beau, and Louis!
p.s. that's the cutest pic of you ever!!
I love your blog b/c it is so authentically you. The stream of consciousness style that you sometimes use just makes it feel that much more like you're including us in your life and adventures, with all its ups and downs. And I think that style is appropriate to the blog medium, which is more write as you go, not just a place to showcase great, "finished" writing.
That said, I understand wanting to take your writing to the next level. What if you started writing an essay for the blog each week? You could still share daily musings etc in a more casual style, but you could accent them with a more fully developed piece each week.
Also, it seems like the blogs you listed as examples all do more to integrate photography into each post (just a quick first impression). Maybe that's something to play with, as well...
I agree with Amanda's thoughts. :) I really enjoy your authentic style.
I'd love to hear more reflections on your writing course. Sometimes it's fun to have theme-days; I try that on my blog now and then. Like "Silly Saturdays" or "Thankful Thursdays."
I also really appreciate blogs where people share their honest struggles and concerns.
Do you like poetry? Sometimes it's fun to be vulnerable and share poetry - either your own or someone else's.
Thanks again for who you are and for your constant quest for peace and joy! It inspires us all!
I love following these other blogs as well, and each has its own style. It's always fun to play around and try new things - but do know that yours is always a must read daily for me!
Kimberly, wow. I am so honored! You should know that you were the inspiration for to start blogging! :)
I think you're doing a fabulous job!! Keep up the good work.
I always enjoy reading your blog. You are definitely an inspiration to me! I appreciate your stream of consciousness writing and authenticity. I'm also loving your videos! Keep em' coming!
Namaste'
despite the title of the big blogging advice book (no one cares what you ate for lunch)...i DO care. a blog, for me, is a window into another person's life. i like to know what was for lunch, what you wore, how the weather was. and i also like when someone shares their unique knowledge, whatever that may be. i read blogs about glass fusing...i have no desire to ever fuse glass, i just like to read about a creative process. i read blogs about 18th century history, a subject i never studied, BECAUSE i never studied it and this is a fun way to learn about it. everyone has a talent, everyone has something to offer and i find that so beautifully reflected in so many simple little daily doses.
so, i guess my advice is, write you. share what you know (which you do!) and some people, like me, will be interested.
Kimberly,
Your blog was the very first one I began to follow (it's been nearly two years since then!). I follow all of the blogs you mentioned in your post, but I always come back to yours because I find it so honest, authentic, and - at times - vulnerable. Please don't change...at least not too much!
Hey Kimberly! What I adore most about your blog is what Amanda had to say--you stay true to yourself and you do this so flawlessly! Lately, I've been feeling like I've been living in a world surrounded by materialism and copycats, but it is so refreshing to see you live your life according to your dreams. Regarding your book, I would love to hear about your stress management. You are a busy lady and as any human, I'm sure you experience stress, but you seem to move beyond it so gracefully. How do you do this?
I agree with all of the above! Keep it coming, when you don't blog it's :(
i love your blog and most of the others that you mentioned. a couple i will have to check out :)
i have been a blog reader for quite some time now. i only recently (not quite even two months yet) began blogging. you have served as one of my inspirations to start blogging. i am grateful to you for helping me break out of my shell. (and speaking of... i added a few pink streaks to my hair today. i have wanted to do this for some time now and with being recently unemployed, i figured, now is the perfect time!)
while i agree w/ your creative non-fiction writing class about being more focused with your writing and less stream of consciousness, i do think that a blog is a perfect place to have a stream of consciousness... to let go a little. i think you have dovetailed the two perfectly. what you are doing is exactly what i love and expect from your blog. but i know that ever creative you will always find something new and awesome to bring to the proverbial table.
wow, i got a little long winded there, sorry. :-)
Thanks for sharing those blog links with us... off to check out the ones that I have not read before.
As for your blog, it is one of my favourites and is one of the first things I check out when I switch my computer on each morning....
I love your blog! Reading it always brings a smile to face. Mostly because you're so YOU -- totally honest, totally open, sharing all sorts of interesting tidbits. Never boring!
your blog is adorable! ...there are so many ...more popping up everyday!
Happy Weekend!
I am always amazed at the woman that I meet simply by reading and posting on other blogs. My network of fabulous women is constantly growing thanks to the simple concept of blogging.
i love your blog... it's a great mix of your fun personal life and your fabulous business life. as the two are so closely intertwined it's wonderful to see it all unfolding together. i have always struggled with this, which is why i have a creative blog and a more personal blog. you seem to have found a beautiful balance all in one place. thank you for sharing in all the ways you do! xo
