Ilana Simons is the author of A Life of One’s Own: A Guide to Better Living through the Work and Wisdom of Virginia Woolf (Penguin, 2007). She received her PhD in literature from New York University in 2003 and is currently finishing her PhD in clinical psychology at The New School. She has taught literature and writing at New York University and The New School for the past ten years. Recipient of the Willy Gorrissen Award for Teaching Excellence and the Molberger Fellowship for modernist scholarship, she also writes the weekly “Literature & Life” blog for Barnes & Noble, here.

Ilana has lectured in venues from Miami to San Francisco. She paints portraits, too, which you can see on her website, here, and her works-in-progress site, here.
