friday is world AIDS day
on friday, tranquil space is donating 50% of the day's proceeds to six degrees of love. six degrees of love is an organization founded by ken storen, an american who came to lesotho in southern africa several years ago as a peace corps volunteer. he stayed on when his tour of duty was complete to try to help the children of lesotho who have been orphaned by the AIDS epidemic. one of our teachers, marianne, knew him while she was also in the peace corps in africa and recommended his organization when i explained my specific focus - money to children in africa who have lost their parents to AIDS. during my research, i also found organizations that allow you to sponsor orphans for less than $30/month. to piggyback on the past two posts, what a great gift to give!
