savvy soiree-throwing

in less than 26 hours i hosted 2 amazing groups of 13+ at my home in celebration of their success for completing programs that began in january - teacher training and a creativity cirle. the ability to pull off a fun soiree on a budget is worth blogging about and sharing secrets with others! the main thing to remember is that the ability to make something special is ALWAYS in the details.

for example, think festive confetti thrown into handwritten congratulation note cards, colorful gift bags or buckets filled with treats that nurture the senses, scented candles and bath gifts to encourage self-nurturing, ribbons wrapped around stemware, impatiens planted in barren winter pots that now bloom with life, candles everywhere, flowers to feed the soul, festive music playing, low lighting (helps hide lack of time to clean), decorative cocktail napkins, and an abundance of comforting snack food to make the visitors feel at home. always send guests home with something to remember your special time together - a small token means a lot.

when teaching yoga, i think theatre. sound, smell, touch, and sight are all so powerful to a class. think theatre when inviting your special savvy ones into your home. the ability to host friends is easy to pull off and no reason is necessary other than the desire to connect. do you find that it has been way too long since you had a girl's night in with some of your fave gal pals? well, wait no longer! send an encouraging evite requesting their presence at a gathering in honor of blooming into spring. request that they come with a spring intention and bottle of sparkling h2o or wine to share! what better way to reconnect after hibernating through the winter?
