signature style: personal brand

your work is to discover your work
and then with all your heart to give yourself to it.

(buddha )

hello gorgeous tranquilistas!
i hope you're having a stylish and creative week. thank you for stopping by for a bit of tranquility. in case we haven't met, every other week i drop in to muse on style, sparkle and living a joy-filled life. last time i shared a few of my savvy sources and this week is all about rocking your career with style!

style is all about how you feel from the inside out. an integral piece to any rockin' career is the "personal brand" you pursue for yourself and share with others. from the look of your clothes, to the way you follow up with clients, there are so many opportunities to share your signature style in the business world.

dress to impress
let your inner essence shine through in your work clothes. love a little sparkle? pair a chic suit with chandelier earrings. have a penchant for purple? don a daring shade of eyeshadow with an otherwise conservative look. pleased by plaid? find a cute cardigan that pairs well with your favorite pencil skirt. looking for a little inspiration? check out workchic, a great resource for looking professional, feminine and trรจs chic.

make personal connections
no matter your industry or profession, connecting with others will serve you well. put your smartphone away on business lunches and write hand-written thank you notes to clients. practice the yogic principle of non-harming (ahimsa) next time you receive an unsolicited sales call. do something good for a colleague to help her advance in her career - good karma is a well-kept secret in business.

set your sights high
in the day to day grind, it's easy to lose your vision. menial agenda items can sometimes take priority over the fun and glamorous parts of our work. when your to-do list gets you down, take a moment to look out onto the horizon. think about how the task at hand will help you achieve your long-term goals. it becomes easier to breathe through the less-fun parts of work when you understand how they fit into the big picture.
